Our first ever featured pet is a little peekapoo named Kasey Cochran.  He is 2 years old and is owned by Kathy Cochran of Farmville.  Kasey recently came to Willow Grove Animal Clinic to have a routine dental cleaning.  We examined Kasey the morning of the procedure and determined he had mild tartar accumulation on his teeth and mild gingivitis (gum infection).  Kasey was then anesthetized and his teeth examined individually and the teeth scaled and polished.  He even had bubble gum flavored fluoride applied to strengthen his enamel.  Kasey woke up from the anesthesia and spent a little more time with us so we could monitor him then went home with his owner that same afternoon.  Kasey's owner has e mailed us to let us know his breath is much improved and I am sure Kasey's mouth feels better because even the mildlest gingivitis can be painful.  It looks like he is showing off his pearly whites in his photograph!

It only takes a minute to flip up the lip on your own dog or cat to check for tartar, swollen gums, red gums or broken teeth.  If you are not sure if what you are seeing is normal, bring him or her for a visit and we will check for you!
